Senior Digital Signal Processing Engineer
Position Responsibilities:
- Design, simulation, implementation, and testing of physical layer signal processing solutions for commercial wireless standards such as 5G, LTE, UMTS, GSM, CDMA, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other commercial wireless protocols.
- Document all aspects of the system from requirements & design through test procedures
- Define software-centric implementations that account for tradeoffs required when porting DSP solutions to real-time low SWaP computing platforms
- Simulate and test algorithms in Matlab when appropriate
- Support cross-team information exchanges
- Provide technical leadership and be part of the implementation team
- Provide technical support for proposals and business development opportunities
Skills and Knowledge/Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- Excellent understanding of 5G or 4G (LTE) wireless communications systems and DSP theory and algorithms used in transmit and receive chains for 5G or 4G receivers and transmitters solutions (A/D’s, OFDM, Modulation/Demodulation, Encoding/Decoding, AGC, interleaving, DDC’s, coding/encoding, Spreading/Despreading, Encryption/Decryption, etc.)
- Excellent understanding of real-life wireless communications impairments such as interference, noise, fading, multi-path, etc., and DSP solutions defined to mitigate their impact
- Highly proficient in implementing DSP algorithms in C/ C++ in embedded real-time environments
- Strong understanding of hardware/software portioning of DSP algorithms to optimize implementation for low SWaP solutions
- Matlab experience for DSP designs, data analysis, and visualization
- Experience working with Software Defined Radio systems
- Ability to work independently and efficiently, goal/result-driven individual
- Strong oral and written communications skills
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Computer Engineering
- 7+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience
- Advanced degree preferred
Additional Desired Skills:
- Experienced in FPGA development (VHDL, Verilog), and associated synthesis + place/route tools
- Experience with RFSOC, ZYNQ platforms
- Strong understanding of RF and antenna theory
- Adept in using test instruments and testing techniques
- Familiarity with Linux
